Congratulations! You completed your PADI Open Water Course and are now a fully certfifed diver. You have the liscence to explore thousands of dive sites all over the world with your buddy to depths of up to 18 metres. But what's next? A great way to continue your journey is to take the next step and complete your Advanced Open Water course, and here's why.

1. Practice makes perfect

The main focus of the Advanced Course is to build on the skill which you have learned during your Open Water Course. During the Open Water Course it can be quite overwhelming having so much new information to process that it becomes quite easy to forget, especially if you don't have the opportunity to constantly practice new skills.

Practicing your skills like hovering, mask removal and regulator recovery will greatly enhance your skills as a diver and make your underwater experience so much more enjoyable.

Experience is the best teacher, so the more you dive the better diver you will become!

2. Learn new and exciting skills that will build your confidence as a diver

The Advanced course teaches you new skills that will fine tune and further improve your diving. You have the option of choosing your own 5 unique specialities which will help you on dives in the future.

Peak Performance buoyancy - Bouoyancy is one of the most important skills to master as a diver. Having control over your buoyancy will make your experience so much more enjoyable. This speciality will teach you the diffrent factors which influences your buoancy as well as how to perfect your skills through practce.

Deep Diving - Discover a whole new world of potential dive sites and marine life by going deeper than 18 meters. As you dive deeper the risks increase and it is important to understand how to safely deal with them. This course will teach you how to safely reach depths of up to 30 metres.

Navigation - It is a big ocean out there and understanding how to navigate your way around dive sites will greatly improve your diving experience. This course teaches you how to use a compass underwater to explore dive sites and how to use natural navigation to make your way around the reef.

PADI offers over ... different specialities which you can choose from, some include night diving, drift diving, search and recovery, naturalist, fish ID and many more.

3. Improve your air consumption and learn how to stay down for longer

Through practicing your skills you will learn new tecniques on how to better manage your air consumption underwater. Your breath is a major factor which influences your buoyancy on a dive, learning how breathing effects your buoyancy will help you control it.

Everyone wants to strecth their dive time out for as long as they can. By controlling your breathing you can stay down longer. The Advanced course teaches you breathing techniques that will help you conserve your air, while not feeling like you are holding your breathe.

Discover a whole new world of potential dive sites and marine life by going deeper than 18 meters. When diving deeper risks increase. There are more safety concerns on deep dives, as air consumption increases, no stop time decreases and you may experience nitrogen narcosis.

The Advanced course will teach you how to safely reach a depth of up to 30m. Learn how to overcome your fears and boost your confidence and diving abilities. By diving deeper and overcoming your fears you might even feel more empowered in other areas of your life, and trust yourself and your capabilities both under and above the water. Fear is often about the unknown, and the more you learn, you realize the less there is to fear.

5. Go Pro - it's the next step in pursuing a qualification as a Scuba Diving Instructor

You are qualified as an Open water diver and during your course you fell in love with the magic of the world beneath the waves. Now you are thinking of taking others diving everyday and becoming an instructor. The Advanced course is the next step up the ladder to becoming a dive proffesional.

The Open Water and Advanced Open Water Course are focused on improving your skills as a diver. After you complete these courses you will go on to Rescue, Dive Master and finally Instructor.
